Transfer Coordinator, Admissions Dept
Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ
(5 yrs)

Goal
  • To integrate the curricula of the public 2-year colleges with Rutgers University
  • To create a course database for Rutgers and the 2-year colleges as a whole
  • to regularize and enhance the the transfer process for all majors (including intra-University)
Accomplishments
  • I created 19 transfer books, one for each of the 19 public NJ 2-year colleges, each detailing specific requirements of curriculum transfer, each signed off by appropriate faculty officials representing each involved department, as well as the Presidents of each institution. The books included lists of equivalences for satisfaction of "area distribution requirements" as well as major curriculum requirements.
  • (As a side-effect) I also regularized intra-University transfer between the colleges of the University.
  • I computerized each book into a generalized database management system which, given a particular pair of colleges and major, could print a course-list citing the necessary courses at the sending institution to optimize the first 2 years toward the 4-year degree, and citing the Rutgers courses for which credit would thereby be earned.
